Venue :
Buddh International Circuit
Located in the
suburb of Delhi , Greater Noida, the
track was designed by F1 architect Hermann Tilke, who is effectively
the father of modern F1 circuits. He has designed circuits such as Sepang,
Shanghai, the Yas Marina, Sakhir Intl in Bahrain, Turkey, Valencia and Korea!
The facility is built at a
cost of USD 350 million, the track is around 5.5 kilometers
in length and has the second fastest average speed of any
circuit on the calendar behind Monza!
The track contains
a total of 6 corners and has a capacity of 1,18,000
people. The track is one of the fastest in the world, with the cars reaching 320
kmph.
F1 2011 Update:
There had been some misgivings about this first
race in India, suggestions that construction work was running late, just as in
Korea a year ago, but although undeniably there was scope for improvement in
the infrastructure at the Buddh International Circuit, the track itself drew
nothing but praise from the drivers, teams and the Media. Undulating, and
offering a fine mix of fast and slow corners, it was widely hailed as Hermann Tilke`s
best track design to date.
